artist statement
Kreh Mellick received a BFA from Maine College of Art in Illustration and Drawing. Her work relates fictions inspired by folklore, nostalgia and a time passed. With a minimal style her figures commune in unknown but fixed landscapes. Embellishing Pennsylvania Dutch motifs found in her great grandmother’s sketchbook; Mellick creates a connection between her own history and family matriarch, while considering a woman’s roles through time. Currently residing in the artist community of Penland, North Carolina, Kreh Mellick keeps studio and continues to pursue residencies and exhibitions at home and abroad.
